Lecturer
Dr Luqman Zakariyah holds a L.L.B degree in Shariah (Islamic Law) from Islamic University Madinah, Saudi Arabia, an MA in Islamic Studies from Lagos State University, Nigeria and a PhD in Islamic Studies from the University of Wales, Lampeter.
His research focuses generally on exploring how Islamic law can engage in modern debate on various issues; socio-political and economic challenges, family structure in Islam and the challenge of reformation.He also has an interest in how the overall objectives of Islam (Maqasid al-Shariah) can mitigate the tension between Islamic traditionalists and modernists.
