Dr Dawoud El-Alami is a Reader in Islamic Law and Director of Research. His teaching and research expertise lie in Islamic Personal Status Law and the reform of marriage and divorce law in the Arab world. His Marriage Contract in Islamic Law – in the Shari’a and Personal Status Laws of Egypt and Morocco. (Arab and Islamic Laws series. London, Graham and Trotman, 1991) and The Marriage and Divorce Laws of the Arab Countries (with D.
