The Shaikh Hamdan Community Sponsorship Fund has now donated a total of £35,090 in support of a range of community groups, mainly in the Dundee area.
In all, 22 organisations have benefited so far from the special fund, set up by the Al-Maktoum Institute in February 2009.
The Fund was established to support community groups and charities in Dundee and the surrounding area in an attempt to help many different groups who might not otherwise be able to fulfil their objectives.
The Institute’s Patron and Sponsor is HH Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance of the United Arab Emirates, whose vision for multiculturalism is at the heart of the Al-Maktoum Institute.
Dundee High School FP Rugby Club, Dundee Lads Club and Markinch Amateur Operative Society are among those to receive support recently.
“Feedback from those who have received funding has been extremely positive,” said Mr Abubaker Abubaker, the Institute’s Director of Operations.
“Obviously we are pleased to assist and anyone wishing to make an application inquiry should ideally make any applications to us through the Scottish Community Foundation.”
Successful applicants, in addition to funding, also receive a special Shaikh Hamdan Community Sponsorship Fund plaque.
