Professor Malory Nye, Institute Principal has warmly welcomed the appointment of Professor Ian Diamond FBA FRSE as the University of Aberdeen’s next Principal and Vice- Chancellor. Professor Diamond, the Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council, will succeed Professor Sir Duncan Rice on October 1, 2010.
“Professor Diamond has great experience and an outstanding academic pedigree and I am sure he will excel in his new post,” said Professor Nye. “At the Institute, we have enjoyed extremely good relations with the current Principal and we are looking forward keenly to that continuing with Professor Diamond.”
The University of Aberdeen validates the taught and research programmes at the Al-Maktoum Institute.
“We are pleased that our taught and research programmes in Islamic Studies, Islamicjerusalem Studies, Multiculturalism, and Muslims, Globalisation and the West have been re-validated as this will help us to build on the excellent progress we are making at the Institute,” said Professor Nye.
